Baseline Open Session 01 · Online · Free

KNOW WHY YOU’RE DOING THE WORK.

When to push — and when to adjust.

Thirty minutes on how a coach actually decides: when a set or session should be pushed, and when it should be changed. Watch from your couch. No login, no camera, nothing to clear floor space for.

The session

One decision, taught properly.

The session follows the same loop the coaching does. Timings are approximate.

  1. 00′ESTABLISH

    Establish the baseline

What you’re actually starting from — and why the first week shouldn’t be a test.

  2. 04′APPLY

    Apply the right stress

What a productive set looks like: load, range and intent, not just effort.

  3. 10′READ

    Read the response

The signals worth watching in a set and a session — and why soreness is a poor one. Evidence

  4. 15′ADJUST

    Push, or adjust

Push when the work is clean and repeatable. Adjust when range, quality, pain or fatigue change the picture.

  5. 20′SHOW

    One real demonstration

The same exercise twice: the set that gets chased, and the set stopped at the right rep.

  6. 25′REPEAT

What this session is and isn’t

This is

  • Teaching: how training decisions get made, explained plainly.
  • One real exercise demonstration, filmed live.
  • Questions answered at the end.

This isn’t

  • A follow-along workout. You won’t be asked to train during it.
  • Individual advice, diagnosis or treatment. If pain is sharp, worsening, or changes how you move, that’s a conversation for a physio or GP — not a programming tweak.

Who’s teaching

Zaak Nicholls

Strength and mobility coach in Melbourne’s southeast. Certified by the Australian Institute of Fitness, with 18 years of his own training behind the way he coaches. The aim of Baseline is simple: understand enough about your training to make better decisions about it — with a coach, and eventually on your own.
